Acupuncture and Traditional East Asian Medicine

deskorchidposter        Acupuncture is the art and science by which a qualified, well-trained practitioner inserts very thin filiform (thread-like) needles precisely into specific sites on a patient’s body to stop or decrease pain, improve their body’s functioning, and return the patient to wellness and vitality.  The placement of the needles is determined by a careful determination of the individual patient’s particular pattern of disease manifestation .

Acupuncture, along with Chinese herbal medicine, Qi Gong and Tai Qi, Chinese dietary therapy, and Tuina or Chinese medical massage, is one of the 5 main treatment modalities of Traditional Chinese Medicine, or TCM.   TCM is the world’s longest continuously practiced and most sophisticated system of functional medicine.
